Swamiji’s Birthday Celebration March 16th 2007
A happy crowd of devotees inflicted ‘love torture’ on our Swamiji during his birthday celebrations at last night’s Satsang. After a wonderful feast, the Satsang gathered and sang happy birthday to our Guru in two versions: the usual song, and the special ‘Ganeshpuri mix’ that many of us heard on our recent travels. Swamiji drew on one of his birthday presents for his talk – a rare version of Gurudev Vani published in 1967. The issue featured a dialogue between Jneshwar and his father, Vitoba, written by Niroba (a Maharastran poet saint). Although written in the 12th century it was a remarkably timely exposition of the seemingly eternal problem of how to do yoga in the world. Swamiji remarked that it was fine to sit in a cave to meditate but invariably one had to come out of this state and interact with people, and it is at this point that yoga begins. After his talk we watched a short shakti-filled video of our time in Ganeshpuri after which Swamiji commented, “Bhagawan is so present in Ganeshpuri, it seems like he forgot he left his body!”.
