Swamiji’s visit to Adelaide - September 2009
The Adelaide Shiva Yoga Meditation Centre welcomed Swamiji for a full weekend of programs September 11th through 13th. Members of the Adelaide Shiva Yoga community and newcomers filled the Centre for two evening Satsangs and a Sunday full-day Intensive.
All attendees warmly greeted Swamiji and were delighted to be able to speak with him again or meet him for the first time. The Meditation Intensive was cited by many people as an uplifting and deeply moving experience.
The programs consisted of chanting, puja, talks, Q&A and meditation followed by a chance to meet and chat with each other. Swamiji says, “Everyone should remember that within each person is a great power and potential. There is great wisdom and also great love. Everyone should seek to awaken that power and find their own true nature.”
The Adelaide Satsang also hosted guests from Mt Eliza, including Vani, Stephen, Swami Bhaktananda, Anandi and Gargi. Sunday’s lunch and after-Satsang treats were lovingly prepared and many members of the Adelaide Satsang helped to host, MC and serve during the weekend.
Opened in 2006 by Swami Dayananda and Ma Jan Chaitanya, the Centre hosts a growing community with a full schedule of programs, including meditation, self-inquiry and Shiva Process groups as well as yoga and relaxation sessions. It also provides weekend meditation retreats in the Clare Valley.
“Swamiji’s work carries great power,” says Swami Dayananda. “It draws from the ancient teachings and a powerful lineage while at the same time being immanently practical for everyday life. We were delighted that Swamiji could visit and our door is always open to him and Ma Devi.”
