Swami Shankarananda, a Self-realized master of meditation and yoga, is one of the first Westerners to apply the ancient teachings of India to the complexities of contemporary Western life.
Swamiji developed Shiva Yoga in the tradition of his guru, Swami Muktananda, as an approach to living with a high level of awareness, intelligence and compassion. The Shiva Yoga Lineage is a living path of inner transformation.
At its core, Shiva Yoga embraces Kashmir Shaivism, a remarkable philosophy that explains the spiritual experience and the practice of yoga. Swamiji is one of the world’s preeminent exponents of Kashmir Shaivism. His Shiva Centre of Kashmir Shaivism promotes the study and experience of this mystical yet highly practical approach to living.
With the same enthusiasm that first took him to India to meet Great Beings, Swamiji comments on dialogues from extraordinary yogis during Saturday night Satsangs, and through his books and recordings. Examples of Self-realized attainment, these sages lived in the highest state of consciousness while serving thousands of individuals through their teachings and leadership.
Swamiji invites everyone to visit the Shiva Ashram in Mt. Eliza, about 45 minutes south of Melbourne. You are welcome to stay a few hours or a few days.
