Festival Sunday is the culmination of the St Kilda Festival and this year it attracted a record crowd of 420,000 people. One very special feature of the day was the Hare Krishna ‘Festival of the Chariots’ – a giant palki of Lord Krishna that was pulled along Fitzroy Street. Swamiji and Ma Devi were invited to be part of this amazing event along with Cr Frank O'Connor (the ex-Lord Mayor of City of Port Phillip) . Swamiji enthusiastically cleared a path in front of the chariot with his symbolic golden broom as he and other Shiva Yogis joined in the chanting. Following this ecstatic parade, the group returned to the ‘Vedic Village’ in Catani Gardens where we had lunch; participated in the Yoga Meltdown (10 hours of yoga taught by Swami Durgananda and others) and listened to the Mighty Shiva Chant band and other wonderful Krishna bhajan groups.
