Baba’s Mahasamadhi celebration October 27th 2007
On Saturday the 27th of October the energy was charged with excitement, as it was the 25th Anniversary of Baba Muktananda’s Mahasamadhi.
It seemed the perfect occasion to show a short video clip of Baba and to hold a naming ceremony for the new babies born to members of the Satsang. The ceremony began with a Ganesh puja intended to remove obstacles and bring about a good life for the babies and their families. The fathers where then given a spiritual name from Swamiji to whisper into the baby’s ear. The ceremony was beautiful and warm.
Swamiji then gave a talk reading questions and answers with Baba. Swamiji spoke of the power and intelligence of the Shakti. Saying that ‘to honor the Guru is to honor the Shakti. The Shakti will guide you the more you honor the outer guru’. Baba had great faith in the Shakti.
Swamiji also spoke about acceptance saying that ‘often the problem is not that we are contracted but that we can’t accept we are contracted’. He said that ‘If you become one with what is, the nature of it is to change.’
Swamiji quoted Baba saying that ‘This body is the abode of all deities…the ocean of divine love exists within you…the wisdom of the inner guru exists in the sahasra…There is no place where I am not…that consciousness pervades everywhere…if this is so why would you be afraid? I am everywhere.’
We were reminded at the end that there is a place of perfection within us all and that (as stated by Swamiji) ‘it’s the great beings like Baba that live to demonstrate that Shakti’.
