Param Saint Maharaj Kamal Bir Ji visits Shiva Ashram

September 22, 2011

On Thursday, Param Saint Maharaj Kamal Bir Ji visited the Shiva Ashram with a small group of devotees. He was visiting Australia from India doing talks in Melbourne and Sydney. Shiva Kari invited him here to the Ashram.

On arrival we sang the first verse of joyta while Devi Ma gave him a garland and bindi. Swamiji then gave him a tour of the ashram, showing him the hall and the murti (statue) of Bhagavan Nityananda. We then walked around the interfaith garden and headed up to Kailas for Satsang.

Swamiji began by quoting Baba, warmly welcoming everyone with love and respect. Maharaj Kamal’s devotees sang beautifully in Sanskrit the teachings of Maharaj Kamal’s Guru. He then went on to describe some of the main teachings of their lineage including:

  • Consciousness is all and all is consciousness
  • God is love and love is God
  • Thy will be done
  • Reach into your heart where love is
  • Human life is precious. We have come on this earth to awaken ourselves.
  • We are all one
  • If you are giving love then you are receiving love.

Swamiji went on to discuss the similarities between both paths agreeing that love is the highest path and there is one consciousness who we call Lord Shiva. Swamiji said, “That one consciousness is Sachidananda (being, consciousness and bliss). It is pure love.”

We then chanted Sada Sarvada and all had an opportunity to meet Maharaj Kamal. It was a very sweet and loving visit with the hope of seeing them again in the future.
