16th anniversary of Shiva ashram, Mt Eliza
January 11, 2012
On Wednesday the 11th of January 2012 we celebrated the 16th birthday of the Shiva Ashram in Mt Eliza. The anniversary fell during our annual summer treat.
We watched a video of the ashram made 16 years ago for Swamiji’s parents in the USA. The video was a tour of the ashram as it was then, narrated by Swamiji and Devi Ma. It was a blast from the past and truly amazing to see how the Shiva Ashram has changed over the years and how much has been achieved.
The topic of Swamiji’s talk for the evening was Upaya, the means or method to liberation. Swamiji said, “There is nothing more important in this world than our own attitude. When you stay in the highest attitude you connect to the highest energy.” Swamiji described the four Upaya’s in Kashmir Shaivism: Anavopaya, Shaktopaya, Shambhavopaya and Anupaya. We also contemplated a few dharana’s from the Shaivite text, Vijnanabhairava.
After darshan we all enjoyed chai and ice cream to celebrate the 16th birthday of the Shiva Ashram in Mt Eliza.
